Material Speculations and Unaware Objects, Ron Wakkary
The Everyday Design Studio at Simon Fraser University and the Impact of Interaction Design on Everyday Life group at TU/e have crafted strange yet familiar “unaware objects” for the home. These include technological ‘things’ made of everyday materials and without a purpose, that create slowness and scarcity, and that playback a lifetime of musical choices. In addition to connectivity, sensing and data, we aim to understand the materiality, temporality and human relationships that may underlie or undermine the Internet of Things.
